What if you had the time and space you needed to really dive into the work in front of you?
EMDR-BASED THERAPY INTENSIVES
Deep, Focused Trauma Healing in Olympia, Washington
Sometimes healing needs more space than a single hour can hold.
At LifeTide Wellness, I offer EMDR-based therapy intensives designed to support deeper integration and relief. Whether you’re working through a stuck memory, navigating trauma, or simply want to make faster progress, an intensive can provide a focused container for your healing.
What is EMDR?
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is the most common approach that utilizes bilateral stimulation of the brain and body to reprocess blocks to success, including memories, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. The BLS (bilateral stimulation) engages the brain in a way that jump starts a natural healing process that has the potential to reconnect/rewire maladaptive pathways— connecting these pathways with adaptive ones. Other modalities also utilize BLS, however EMDR is the most established. The modality, developed by Francine Shapiro, is structured into 8 phases that include intake, planning, resourcing, processing, and re-assessing. Here’s some more information on how traditional EMDR can look: EMDRIA
What is an EMDR intensive?
An EMDR intensive is an extended therapy session where we use the structured, evidence-based modality of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) to help your brain and body process unresolved experiences. Intensives allow us to dive in with fewer time contraints— ideal for when you’re ready to shift something significant. These sessions are in-person and scheduled for significantly longer amounts of time than a typical coaching or counseling session. Your longer commitment is allowing for deeper dives into the issues you’re wanting to work on, meaning you can reach your goals more quickly. Your intention, investment, self-focus, and follow through set you onto the path to reach your goals with a different level of intensity and momentum.
Will the intensive be EMDR? What else do we do in the intensive?
The work we do in the intensive draws upon the foundation of EMDR, as well as other approaches, such as IFS (internal family systems), EEM (Eden Energy Medicine), Energy Psychology & Tapping, mindfulness, and techniques for regulating the nervous system. Although I am trained in EMDR, we will not be using a straightforward EMDR approach, but instead a blend of techniques to bring forward our most productive time together.
Who Are Intensives For?
You might benefit from an EMDR intensive if:
You’re feeling stuck despite weekly therapy
You’ve identified a specific memory or issue you want to work through
You’re preparing for or recovering from a major life transition
You want to reduce the time and cost of weekly sessions by working more efficiently
You’ve done therapy before but feel like there’s one big piece left to move
You do not need to be a current or ongoing client to book an intensive. I collaborate with other therapists if you want to integrate this into your current work.
How do I know if this is right for me?
Our initial consult (free to you, regardless if you sign up for the intensive) can help you determine if this investment is the right one for you. Not only is it important that you are ready for the intensive, but it is also important that we are a good fit to work together. We will spend a lot of time together and share some intensity, the best thing for your healing is to be sure that I’m the right person for you to take that journey with, and that you feel you’ll be able to trust me with the skill and dedication to hold space for you. That choice is important, and personal. People who do well with intensives are:
clear on the issues that they want to address
have worked to increase awareness of their emotions, thoughts, and physical symptoms that arise when revisiting stressful experiences, behaviors, or beliefs— you’re ready to handle some emotion, intensity, new awareness, and expanding insight.
are motivated to heal and change; you’ve come to a place where you recognize you could use some help to make some shifts and can embrace the discomfort of transformation
